The mission of the Center for Human-Compatible AI (CHAI) at UC Berkeley, where I started as a visiting scholar on September 15, is to guide AI to take beneficial actions that do not have negative and irreversible outcomes for humans. This task includes elements of social science as well as AI. The director of CHAI, Stuart Russell, has published a book “Human Compatible: AI and the Problem of Control” in 2019.
